Istanbul Trip 2018

Hello everyone, I just came back from Istanbul and it was a really amazing vacation although we just stayed for 10 days, which is definitely not enough to explore this wonderful city.

Unfortunately, we did not have a chance to visit all the famous places/& markets because it was Eid Al Adha’s holiday (Muslims Festival) and its also known as the Festival of sacrifice. However, we still visited other wonderful places in Istanbul and outside of Istanbul.

Istanbul

So, in Istanbul, we visited the Sultanahmet Mosque, Bosporus, Istanbul Dolphinarium, Gezi Park, and for sure a lot of shopping at Taksim square. Also, we rode a private cruise on the Bosphorus at night. We went to many restaurants in Istanbul. And my favorite one was the restaurant called Akintibunu, it’s a seafood restaurant. they serve a fresh and delicious fish. In addition, their location is really unique because in front of it you can see the Bosphorus where the cruises and ferries passing.

Bursa

The trip from Istanbul to Bursa takes around 3 hours including riding the ferry to get there. Bursa is a beautiful city, wherever you look you see green and mountains. Also, on the way to Bursa, the most thing you will see is the olive tree, there are many olive farms in that area. The first thing we did is that we went to PaulMark which is a clothing mall in Bursa. It’s the factory itself which means the prices are much lower than in Istanbul. Next, we ate lunch at Eskender Efendi Konagi,Β which is the one who invented the Shawarma. Its open since 1867, and honestly the Eskender Kebab was incredibly delicious I’ve never eaten something like that before, and for sure I’ll go there again anytime I visit Turkey.

After that delicious lunch, we went to visit the biggest tree in Bursa, which is the Pine Tree, and they believe that its age is 610 years! wow! Next, we went to a shop where they sell many different types of Jams, teas, coffees, etc. As well as, we visited a shop that sells honey.Β  And the most interesting thing, was when we went to ride the Teleferik, it was amazing and unforgettable.

The last destination we went to at Bursa, was the Halkom factory (Halkom is a Turkish sweet), they sell all kind of Turkish sweets, seasonings, Moka pot, etc.Β  It was really a long amazing day at Bursa.

Sapanca

Its another city in Turkey and the travel time from Istanbul to Sapanca is 1 hour and a half, but due to traffic, it took us around 2 hours to get there. First, we went to see the waterfalls, it was a park actually, they have restaurants, coffee shops and many activities for adults and children.

Then we went to a restaurant beside the Sapanca lake, there were shops along the side, children were swimming and collecting the small black fishes. we went there just to relax, enjoy the view and eat ice-cream lol!IMG-4169

After walking and exploring the area, we ate lunch at a restaurant that was located on a hill, I felt that I was in the middle of the forest. It was a wonderful place, while I was eating on top of me were the figs, and on my right side was the waterfalls. The place honestly was like a dream and heaven!

Even though it was a short vacation and we couldn’t visit some places in Istanbul, but it was a wonderful trip and can’t wait to visit Istanbul again.

Have you visited Istanbul before? Is there’s any amazing places you recommend to visit? Please don’t hesitate to share your thoughts in the comment section.

  1. There are so many wonderful places to visit in Istanbul – one of my favorite european cities. I like the great dolmabache palace. And during the spring the tulips in the city is just amazing. It is the true home of the tulip.

  2. I haven’t visited Istanbul yet. It looks like a wonderful place to visit. Your photos are great. The closest country to Turkey that we went was Austria. I’ll write about Germany and Austria in my future travel post. Did you drive or did you join a tour?
